Abstract

The article presents first hop redundancy concept and the means for its realization in IPv6 network. The research regarding the performance comparison and challenges and issues regarding different solutions is revealed and conclusions are shown. The implementation based on Cisco internetworking devices was chosen, including HSRP and GLBP protocols, as well as built-in IPv6 method for router discovery - NDP protocol.
