Abstract

We present a new approach, which is capable of providing real-time processing of DNA sequences using an optical joint Fourier transform correlator (JTC). The DNA sequences are treated as 2-D images instead of numeric data. Simulation experiments are employed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach to search for and to obtain locally and/or globally similarity/dissimilarity between the two DNA sequences.
