Abstract

In this work, a rotating crystallizer with anti-supercooling holes was introduced as a new technology for water purification of seawater through progressive freeze concentration, where pure water is produced in the form of ice crystal block, which leaves behind a higher concentration solution. This paper presents the investigations of the effect of initial concentration and rotation time and the efficiency of the system was reviewed based on the effective partition constant (K), desalination rate (Rd) and efficiency of concentration (E%). The system has achieved its best performance at low initial concentration which is 25g/L and rotation time of four hours.
